An inspirational story of Nicole’s lockdown life and weight-loss transformation
We have reached out to our clients to share their lockdown stories to help remind you all – you are not alone in your health and fitness journey. This week, Nicole shares how she survived lockdown and lost 8.4 kilos in 12 weeks.
Hello everyone, I’m Nicole, I work as an accountant. I have really struggled with lockdown and I have to say, I’m honoured to have this chance to share my story.
Lockdown…
Lockdown definitely has affected me, I have worked from home since March. On one hand, I really appreciate that I can stay home and stay safe, on the other hand, the overall economy and livelihoods of people are not good.
The lockdown has changed my life. There is so little I can do during lockdown (normally at least I can go out), my mental health is right on the edge, and I have had several meltdowns in regards to my job and relationships. Two big areas of my life that have been affected.
In the first lockdown earlier in the year, I continued my training with Enterprise Fitness in the park and have recently been taking part in their online workouts. I’ve done this because it’s important to me to keep active and stay healthy (physically and mentally), especially during such a difficult time.
My Enterprise Journey…
I first started training with Enterprise in 2018.
Training with Enterprise has helped me in so many ways, especially in dealing with stress. By the end of the day, I generally feel stressed and have a lot going through my head from work. I usually try and train after work to help with this and once I’ve trained I always leave in a better mood, which feels amazing.
Training also helps me stay fit and I can feel my body has gained more strength. I used to struggle to run, but since training with Enterprise, I’m able to go for a jog in the park, and that feels so good. The simplest thing can make the biggest difference in life.
I really didn’t expect personal training to bring such big changes into my life. I’ve realised the true meaning of ‘personal’ service, which is to think from your client’s point of view and to bring out the best in them. That’s exactly what has happened, I’ve become a better person because of the training and the team at Enterprise.
My Lockdown Weight Loss
I have lost 8.4 kilos during the last 12 weeks of lockdown.
Through this time I have realised the most important thing to losing weight is consistency. Consistency with eating well, consistency with sleep, consistency with training. All these things need to be met before you can start to see results.
In July I spoke with my trainer Amy and told her I wanted to lose some weight. We have worked together to ensure my nutrition fits with the new lifestyle of lockdown and my goals.
I have learnt to take control of what I choose to eat and realised that your body doesn’t lie. Your body is a reflection of your nutrition. I used to think “It’s just a small bite.”, but results don’t lie.
At the start of lockdown, I didn’t have a good sleep routine. I found myself staying up quite late and not getting enough sleep. I’ve now realised the importance of sleep and have created a sleeping routine to follow. If you don’t get enough sleep it can really affect not only your ability to lose weight, but your mental health.
I have also been completing daily walks or jogs to keep my activity level up for my physical health but most importantly for my mental health.
How Enterprise Supported Me…
I used to have a personal trainer in a chained gym but it was nothin like Enterprise. Enterprise is different because they provide consistently high-quality services.
Firstly, they give you a plan; you know what you have to do and it works. They constantly track your progress and make adjustments when needed. This method not only works for your body, it also applies to all areas in your life. Set a goal, make a plan, regularly review it and improve it to lead to success.
Secondly, the trainers are very experienced and professional. From day one, they are there, every step of the way, to help you reach your goal. With weekly check in’s, ongoing advice and support. Having the constant human companionship really matters, especially during lockdown.
In April I had a nervous breakdown, but Enterprise helped me through it. Then in August, my relationship ended, big thanks to coach Amy for supporting me, it means a lot.
And thanks to Enterprise Fitness for allowing me to write about my experience. It’s a supportive gesture that warms my heart. You run an amazing studio and I feel so lucky to have. met such a good group of people.
