Being healthy and active has been a part of most of my life and I had always thought I was doing the right thing for my body health-wise. I went through a bit of a “starvation” phase during high school and not that I had ever been “fat”, but I used to go through these periods of losing a few kg, then gaining a few kg. I became addicted to trying the newest “magic formula weight-loss” methods and was always waiting for the miracle pill to kick in and make me magically lose 5kg overnight. It took me a long time to realise that this was never going to happen.
I was working towards competing in a fitness competition last year and my results hit a very hard stand still. I was on no carbs for 6 days of the week, doing grueling weight and cardio sessions and unfortunately, I was binging on peanut butter and other naughty things because I was so angry at myself for being tired and hungry all the time. I thought it was my fault that I wasn’t seeing changes and why I couldn’t stay ‘on-plan’.
I started Googling “comp prep coaches” and Enterprise Fitness was the first one to pop up so I immediately saw this as a good sign and went onto their website.
All I could think of was WOW! I saw pic after pic of awesome transformations, competitors that kept on winning and placing in their categories and the endless 5-star testimonials from their clients. I was blown away and I remember thinking, “I want to be in one of those pictures. I want to win my competition and be included on their wall of fame.”
I made the call and spoke to Jaz and told her my whole story. She made me see that I had been paying for a service that was yielding little to no results because it was basically impossible to stick to. My meal plan could had done some serious metabolic damage to my body, not to mention damage to my health as well. I didn’t care what the cost was… my health is way more important so I said I will sign with you but I want to be trained by Reece, one of their master trainers who just happens to be very successful with his comp prep clients. Everything was sorted and I signed with Enterprise over Christmas 2016.
Well….. what an eye opening experience that was. My training program was assessed and it turned out that I was doing a lot of exercises with the incorrect technique. I was also told that I didn’t need to do cardio. Now, as someone who thought that if I didn’t run 10km at least 4-5 times a week I would gain weight, this was a shock to me. I thought “no running”? But won’t I gain weight? I got my diet overhauled and carbs & salt were slowly re-introduced into my plan. Once again, my thoughts were “But won’t I gain weight”? Well well well…. after 2 weeks, I had already dropped 4% body fat and a few kilograms. I couldn’t believe it. I followed (and still follow) Reece’s plan to the letter and in 10 weeks, I was ready for my first competition having lost 14% body fat and 10kg. But not in the fitness division which is what I was originally going for…. I actually competed in Figure which made me so happy, I literally cried. I ended up placing 4th in that competition.
I have since gone on and placed 3rd in my next comp which was 4 weeks later, as well as placing 2nd in my 3rd comp. I have become addicted to the world of competing and Reece and I plan to get my body into an even better condition and compete again in the year(s) to come. Joining Enterprise was by far the best decision in my life because I have never felt better not only physically, but mentally as well. Once you can combat the mental issues about your body, the physical changes become evident. You just get better and stronger at Enterprise.
I knew within 2 weeks of commencing my training that I wanted a job at Enterprise. I am currently working at becoming a personal trainer, however the Customer Service Specialist role came up and I really wanted to apply. However, I wasn’t sure if I could, considering my dream one day is to become a trainer and not just any trainer, but a “Master Trainer”. Mark told me to apply anyway and I’m so happy I did as I got the job. I love that I get to work with a team that shares my ideals and passion in everything health and fitness related. I am literally so blessed and I can honestly say that I love my job, I love my team, and I love my boss. How many people get to say that?!?!?! I wake up every day counting my lucky stars and to say that I have found my dream work environment is an understatement. Mark won’t be able to get rid of me as Enterprise Fitness is my “happy place”! Thanks for taking a chance on me Mark because I know that finding a job like this will not come around twice.
