There was as point in my life where I was 92 kilos.
As you would’ve guessed, I lost the weight through training and nutrition.
In fact, I managed to reach 8% body fat.
But I still wasn’t satisfied with myself.
I was pushing myself harder than ever in the gym. But no matter what I did, I just didn’t see any progress.
I was constantly exhausted mentally and physically. And as a result, I lost my passion for training.
For the next 2 years, I took time off from the gym, during which I still ate relatively healthily.
When I felt ready to start training again, I tried out different things including CrossFit and F45, but they never really got me the results that I wanted.
So I rang up Enterprise and enquired about training with them.
Since then, the way that I look at training and nutrition has completely changed.
As most ‘bodybuilders’ do, I was avoiding carbs and the main bulk of my meals consisted of protein. But as it turns out, I was having too much protein and it was making me bloat and hold on to a lot of fluids.
Within 6 weeks of adding carbs to my meals, I dropped 6-7% body fat (measured by skin folds)!
And when it comes to training, it helps to have someone who can be objective about your progress and goals.
I remember at the start, I still kept to my 5am F45 routine, and had my training sessions at Enterprise in the evening. But as the weights progressed heavier in the gym, I started to notice signs of overtraining, especially in my training and sleep quality.
So under my coach, Reece’s instructions, I’ve cut out my F45 training sessions – at least for now.
And as I entered my 12th week of training with Enterprise, I started to get impatient with my progress in the weights room. I pushed myself harder and I was on the verge of running myself into the ground (again).
I was completely honest about it and we did a deload week, where we kept my food intake relatively high while decreasing my training load.
If we hadn’t done that, I think I might have gotten into the same downward spiral that had me taking 2 years off from the gym.
Looking back, I’ve:
– Been at 92 kilos;
– Got down to 8% body fat and still wasn’t satisfied;
– Lost my passion for fitness and took 2 years off of training;
– Gained back some of the weight during that 2 years;
– To now sit at 6.5% body fat, prepping for my first comp
In the process, I’ve ran myself into the wall so many times… And yet, I don’t have any regrets.
Because I strongly believe that if you don’t fail at least once in your life, you will never get to understand yourself better.
My experience has taught me that the mind has to be in control of your body, not the other way round; and that they have to both work together.
Enterprise has helped tremendously in doing all the complicated thinking and planning for me, and then stripping them down into simple and easy instructions that I can stick to according to my goals and lifestyle.
Previously, I was focused on the destination of trying to look a certain way. But now, I’m more patient and put a lot of trust into Reece’s programming. As long as I get my training, nutrition and rest right, I know that the results will come.
Hearing Reece say that he’s very happy with where I am 6 weeks out from comp just puts my mind at ease.
The past 20 weeks of training has been a great journey, and I’ll continue to train with Enterprise because it’s more than just physical training, it covers everything in life.
