My journey to becoming a personal trainer started off from being the fat kid.
I played different sports throughout my childhood and adolescence including AFL, basketball, football, boxing but never managed to be athletic or lose any weight.
It wasn’t until I watched Rocky 4 and I saw Stallone’s physique that I was inspired to learn more, lose weight, change my physique and increase my self-confidence. I proceeded to lose 20kg through a variety of diets and the continuation of playing sports, but I still wasn’t happy with how I looked and felt.
After finishing high school, I completed my apprenticeship as a chef and for the next 8 years went on to work in some of Melbourne’s best restaurants, working my way up until I became a head chef. It was during this time that I first stepped into a gym and lifted weights with the mission to build a better physique. At first, it was a friend of mine who took me under his wing and let me train with him in between work shifts.
In 2012 I lost my passion for the hospitality industry, yet my passion for health and fitness had thrived, so I completed my certificate three and four in personal training and proceeded to work on my own in big box gyms in both Melbourne and London.
During the time I spent as a self-employed personal trainer in big box gyms, I continuously sought the best in the industry to learn from and aimed to surround myself with like-minded people – people who were striving to be the best they can be every day. I learnt from industry leaders such as Charles Poliquin, Mark Ottobre, Daine McDonald, Wolfgang Unsold and many more I strived to get my clients not only results but to get them performing at their best in order to excel in all areas of their lives.
Throughout my life, I’ve always struggled with gut issues. I had been a teenager with stomach ulcers and constant, unexplained stomach cramps which left me always feeling tired and lethargic. Coupling this with the typical young adult party and chef lifestyle, I was unaware that I could feel any better until I had a consult with Kristine, Enterprise’s naturopath. After doing a series of tests, learning about how my gut issues were affecting my sleep, my motivation and memory, I started to feel the best that I had felt in my whole life.
At the same time, I joined Mark Ottobre’s 2018 Wolfpack and I started training as a client at Enterprise. I was suddenly surrounded by the infectious culture and endeavour for excellence at Enterprise, I knew it was something I had to be a part of.
I believe everyone should not only be happy within their own skin, but they should also be able to perform their best every single day of their lives, whether it be at home with the kids or at work.
