The initial approach: 

The initial approach was a -40% deficit. Identifying my client’s nutrition background enabled me to give him a suitable starting point. He tended to snack most of the time and lacked any form of protein, which was causing him to overeat. 

Our main focus was to get him eating whole foods and educating him to think about incorporating a source of protein and fat at each meal and then including carbohydrates for some of his meals. 

Every week we would re-visit his nutrition and see if his appetite is increasing. Every four weeks I’d incorporate a refeed week by bringing him as close to baseline as possible to give him a break from dieting.” 

 

Results: 

Body weight: From 102.8kg to 86.4kg

Timeframe: 17 weeks
