“I’m so committed to not allowing myself to get back to where I was 6 months ago, it won’t happen.”
She thought Enterprise was a bodybuilding only gym.
She thought Lockdown was the end of her weight loss hopes.
Instead she’s lost 8.6 kilos and is the lightest she’s been in TEN years!
So how did Shejnaze go from being desperate for change to thriving in health and mind in 2020?
Here’s her story…
“In March of this year I decided that I needed to get my fitness back on track. It had been too long since I’d exercised, and some things about my lifestyle had to change. I was dealing with a high amount of stress through work, and I was quite often resorting to alcohol to manage.
Mental health wise I wasn’t in a good place and my eczema and food allergies were out of control. I had rashes on my face and body that I could only manage with steroid based medications, my asthma was being triggered and I was lucky if I was getting 3-4 hours of sleep a night.
I knew I had no option but to make some changes. So, I picked up my laptop one day and typed “Personal Training, Richmond” into Google. Enterprise came up as one of the recommended options, I clicked on the link and thought “Oh it’s the body building gym I pass every day on my way to the train station” and decided it’s not for me.
I continued my search and read through some of the other options, but I came back to Enterprise and submitted a query online. I thought I could at least talk to someone and see what they have to say.
I have to say, the best decision I made.
I got a call the next day and made an appointment to go and speak to someone and discuss my options.
After my first appointment, I learned that my perception of Enterprise was completely wrong, they weren’t a body building gym and signed up straight away, with the intent to start training in 2 weeks time with Laura Gould.
The week before I was meant to start my PT, we went into our first Covid lock down and gyms were shut. Laura called me to discuss my options and said we could start over Zoom. I was so disappointed about this option. I didn’t think this was going to work for me at all. I needed to be motivated, and didn’t see how zoom sessions were going to make any difference to my life, but agreed with Laura that we’d give it a go.
At this stage I had nothing to lose and was very conscious that movement would be critical for me to manage my mental health in isolation. Laura developed a tailored program for me, which consisted of strength based training and nutrition. We had a long discussion on what I wanted to achieve and set some goals.
We started our sessions over zoom and within the first week I started to see results. A small 500gram weight loss, but that for me was just the beginning. I followed my nutrition plan, our zoom sessions eventually progressed to a park near my house as restrictions eased up a little, followed by sessions at the Enterprise car park, when restrictions eased a little more, and eventually I got myself inside the gym, when gyms opened up.
At this stage I had made great progress and was excited to see what we could achieve working inside the gym. But that excitement was short lived, as after only 2 weeks, gyms were shut down again due to the second wave.
I now find myself, having been a member of Enterprise for 6 months, and in that time, have only spent 2 weeks inside the gym. And despite all this, I’ve hit all my goals.
I’ve lost about 9kgs and am currently the lowest weight I’ve been in about 10 years! I haven’t used any steroid based medication for months, my asthma is under control and I sleep on average 7 hours a night. But for me it’s been more than ticking the boxes on a goals checklist.
My whole lifestyle has changed for the better. I no longer turn to alcohol as my go to for stress management. I have developed a real appreciation for nourishing my body with good food and seeing the benefits of doing so. My friends often comment on how i’ve thrived through 6 months of working from home and isolation. Laura has been key for me in this, and a fantastic support through all of it.
Encouraging, engaged and fully committed to helping me achieve my goals and supporting me to navigate the challenges. And this to me is what differentiates Enterprise. My program is holistic, it is personally tailored to me, Laura is exceptional at what she does and genuinely cares.
She has never once complained when I send her a text at 6 am celebrating a win for the week ;). I’m so grateful I went back and submitted that online query that day in March.
I’m in the best shape I’ve been in for years and I’m so committed to not allowing myself to get back to where I was 6 months ago, won’t happen.”
