Supplements – The Truth!
We always get asked what our top supplement recommendations are. With the supplement industry becoming more and more competitive, you’d think that supplements are a necessity to get results.
The wonderful world of marketing has skewed our reality of what “supplement” really means; if you haven’t got a cupboard devoted to the newest pre workouts and protein powders, do you even lift?
Walking into a supplement store, you’re bombarded with protein powders labelled “Lean Mass Gain” or creatine tubs with the words, “Pro Growth Stack”.
The contents of “Pro Growth Stack” is nothing more than Creatine. Why do we feel this urge to buy the big fancy tubs with enticing words on them, rather than supps sold with just the contents and a plain label?
One word – Emotions.
Supplements are glorified to play off emotions.
However, with that said there are bone-fined benefits of including supplements in daily living. You just need to get your emotions in check and not be sucked into advertisement. Make sure you know why you are buying or using a supplement (and not because someone said, “it’s the only way to get huge or burn fat”.)
These days’ simple ingredients, such as Zinc (or any other mineral or vitamin) are glorified in products as the latest invention to come out of the industry that is going to “build mass like never before.” These are just glorified half truths or half lies.
It is rare in the supplement industry that a new ingredient will be found. Instead what sport supplement companies do is patent a combination of different ingredients; then try and pass it on to you as the latest thing. Supplements are tools; look at them as if you are a mechanic about to change an engine. There are times when you need a screwdriver and times when you need wrench.
When buying supplements, turn the label to read the ingredients, and ask yourself what their effects really are.
As a rule of thumb, we promote purchasing your supplements from practitioner brands.
Note, their labels aren’t super fancy and contain no buzz words. Just the best ingredients.
