How To Do Cable Split Squats Correctly

“The wider the base, the higher the peak”

As it relates to physical performance, it means to prepare the joints and muscles for full range of motion and joint articulation before loading it in a specific movement pattern. Hence General Preparatory Phases (GPP) phases should always come before Sports Specific Phases (SSP) or Movement Specific Phases.

A go to lower body exercise we often use is the split squat. But trainee beware, you don’t want to lean forward on a split squat, in fact you really want to focus primarily on knee extension, QLs, adductors and abductors.

Glutes are important, however you should be positioned with knee over toe to enhance VM recruitment. The more vertical the shin, the more glutes. So go as far as mobility allows pushing the knee forward without leaning forward.
