What if I could tell you The Perfect Diet? With literally thousands of diet books, programs and plans, surely someone must know it.
Intrigued? Well listen closely; I know how you can be in shape all year round. You can live in optimal health, with a slender and fit body, and I promise you will never, ever go hungry.
I have you almost eating out of my hand! What if I told you The Perfect Diet doesn’t exist? Don’t be disheartened, because I have a much easier way than a ridiculous restrictive plan. All you need to do is follow these three steps.
1. Eat the way your body was designed
Since the beginning of time, there have been foods that we ate. These are foods that compliment our body’s design. It’s really very easy to know what these foods are; they are hunted, fished, gathered and plucked.
When you eat these foods you will feel full when you are meant to. You will have clear skin, strong hair and lots of energy. Sorry, no Tim-tam trees, donut farms, ginger bread houses or ice cream filled caves. These came later when we turned ‘food’ into ‘food products’.
2. Don’t eat Food Products
Lipstick is a makeup product. But lipstick does not belong in our pantry, let alone inside of our body. Many of the foods that we buy are not foods at all, but are in fact Food Products.
Despite what the TV commercials say, a tri-coloured breakfast cereal is not the best way to start your day. Instead we should replace highly processed foods with those that compliment the design of our body. Enjoy real foods: colourful fruits and vegetables, eggs and white or red meats. It’s the foods that are hunted, fished, gathered and plucked.
3. Mind Over Mouthful
To master step three, you need to realize what you eat is so much more than what you eat. Ask yourself, why do you eat?
We eat for a number of different reasons, be it celebrations, energy, to bond or to feel apart of a group. We eat because of emotions, taste and new experiences. We eat because we might even feel pressured to.
But the difference between people that maintain a healthy body weight, and those that become yo-yo dieters or struggle to maintain their shape, is a matter of ‘Mind Over Mouthful’.
I want you to try this; the next time it comes to choosing what to eat, say the following statement:
“I am a healthy person who eats healthy foods that build and nourish my body”.
Now tell me, what kind of food did you choose?
‘Mind Over Mouthful’ means that you ‘act as if’ you are that healthy person with the body that you have always wanted. You then make decisions from this place. Instead of trying to ‘do’ a diet, focus your attention on ‘becoming’ a person who doesn’t need to diet. When you master this, the actions to maintain a healthy body weight will become easy and automatic.
Do I have you convinced? The Perfect Diet does not exist. But optimal health, freedom of food choice and the body of your dreams does; and if you follow these three steps, it is within your reach.
