Hello My name is Frederick Tukes and I’ve been boxing 30 years and I’ve been a sparring partner to 31 world champions.
I turned professional at 35 years old, which is considered late for the typical boxer. I was having success at that late age because my body wasn’t worn.
But I knew I was in a “young man’s game” as the pundits would say, and although the old school way of training for fights had served me well, I wanted more.
That’s when I heard of Mark, and his major success in training bodybuilders.
We talked and shortly thereafter, I started training with him. My body didn’t quite understand the switch, but it adapted quickly and I saw major changes.
It was like we reversed the ageing process, and I was getting stronger, faster and bigger! So I kept with it.
A year later, I was contemplating retirement when I got a phone call, offering a shot at the Australian Boxing Title.
I told Mark and he said to me, “let’s get to it”.
My challenge was great at 42 years old, fighting against a 27 year old. Mark had never trained a boxer before, and he wasn’t quite sure about the science behind boxing, but he was determined to get me in the right shape for a fight. So he hit the books and did as much research as possible.
As a man of perfection and quality, he made sure I had everything I needed from supplements to food plans to training. He was extremely focused, and this was his chance to take his knowledge to the next level and build a rep for not just bodybuilding, but also for performance athletes.
Well, on 24th February 2013, I became the Australian Welterweight Champion – the oldest in Australian history, as well the second American to win it since the great Jack Johnson 90 years ago.
I couldn’t have done it without Mark’s skill and understanding of the body and his passion for what he does
Sincerely
Freddie
