I joined Enterprise Fitness as I had reached a point in my life where I knew I needed to make a change.
After spending the past 4 years studying and working, my health/life balance was poor. My health and fitness goals were to look leaner and improve my health and wellbeing.
Whilst my initial goal was to look leaner, I kind of fell in love with strength training. I see it not only as an opportunity to get stronger physically but also to improve myself in so many other areas of my life; nutrition, relationships and mindset!
There is something about lifting heavy that teaches you about yourself.
In those moments when things get tough (or heavy) and you begin to doubt yourself, you have 2 choices: to either give up, or keep going – ideally not under a barbell bench press 😉
The weight room is a perfect analogy for life. The weights represent the responsibilities that you shoulder. Whether you crash and fall, or manage to lift it is dependent on discipline, perseverance, patience and a LOT of hard work.
The more you keep at it, the better and stronger you get, and the more weight (and responsibilities) you can take on.
In a way, it builds character.
My time at Enterprise Fitness has involved getting stronger, both physically and mentally.
I look forward to each training program/session, and I enjoy the daily process of chipping away at my goals.
I am starting to change my relationship with food, and to let go of things I cannot control. I have noticed that I have more energy, my sleeping has improved and I am continually getting stronger. I feel more confident, happy and excited for the future.
The biggest change I have seen is to my mindset, to question my beliefs and let go of the unhealthy stories which are holding me back.
I have been lucky to train and learn from a few different trainers and whilst they have all differed in their training approach, they have all been important in challenging me and making me stronger.
My trainer at the moment is Jared, who is absolutely amazing.
I am always surprised by his endless knowledge on health, nutrition and strength training. He is one of those rare people who is always wanting to learn and improve their practice. It has been great working with him, learning and constantly improving on my strength goals.
What does the future hold? Well I want to continue to improve my technique (thanks Jared) and get stronger in the deadlift, squat and bench.
Joining Enterprise Fitness has been the best thing that I have done for myself, both physically and mentally.
