Hey Mark, it’s my diet that is stopping me getting the results I want. Can you write me a plan?
What about your diet is stopping you? I mean specifically?
Is it the fact that you have no self-governance or the fact that you think orange juice and special K are a “healthy” breakfast? Or is it something else?
How important are your goals to you? Are they important enough to invest in, time, money and energy? Are they important enough for you to let go of everything you “think” you know and start again?
Are they important enough to trust someone else? Help you-help them?
Often “my diet doesn’t work, I’ve tried everything” becomes our story. A story that people get addicted to telling. Once the addiction becomes strong enough, the story then becomes their identity. “Hi, my name is “my diet is stopping me, nice to met you”.
Is it the “diet” that doesn’t work, or the story that you tell yourself about your diet that doesn’t work?
Example:
- I’m the person who eats the left overs
- I’m the person who always wants ice cream
- I’m the person who has to eat when food is in front of me.
By the way, our stories that we tell ourselves are really beliefs.
Keep playing the story that your diet doesn’t work, strengthen your belief and conviction and in 5 years time, you will be asking the same question to 20 other ‘gurus and experts’.
To give you a “meal-plan” would be like cutting someone’s dashboard lights in their car. You wont notice the problem until you crash. You need to address the real problem, in this case, your communication with ‘self’.
Additionally…
People like to blame everything on diet. I believe this is a MASSIVE oversight on behalf of the fitness industry. When we run our internships, people sign up looking forward to the day on nutrition and business (rightfully so). But what they don’t expect is how much they learn about training. Common feedback is “Thanks Mark, I now understand why I am not making the process I think I should be making in my training.”
In other words, they realise it was more than just ‘diet’ that was holding their goals back.
Whilst nutrition is important, it is certainly not the only factor. Wisdom would be addressing and making improvements in nutrition and training simultaneously.
